Ernest Johnson Gatson
Ernest Johnson Gatson, 79 of Sweetwater, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones.
Visitation will be 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, August 18, 2025, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held (11:00am on Tuesday August 19, 2025, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with Rev. Iziar Lankford, officiating. Burial will follow at Abilene Municipal Cemetery Cedar Hill. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Ernest was born in Fairfield, Texas to Tyree and Julia Pearl (Allen) Gatson Sr. on April 19, 1946. He graduated from Floydada High School. He owned and operated Earnest Automotive on Treadaway in Abilene, TX. He received his Master of Automotive Degree from General Motors He was a longtime member of Plum Street Methodist Church.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, and two sons; Richie and Chris Johnson.
Ernest is survived by his longtime special friend; Jacqueline E. Kimble and five brothers, 5 sisters and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
