He was born in Fort Monmouth and lived most of his life in Ocean Township.
He was a heavy equipment machine operator for Tatum Tree Removal in Wayside for 30 years. He enjoyed long walks with his dog, fishing, classic rock music, and video games.
He was predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Barbara Grove and his brothers, Charles and Oscar Grove, Jr.
Surviving is his longtime love, best friend, and soulmate, Maria Maccanico; 3 children, Cheronda Maccanico-Shepherd, Terrell Maccanico and Ernest Grove; sister, Martha Lazzari and 4 grandchildren, Christina, Kelly, Julianna and Nicholas.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday at the Fiore-Buckley Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. The funeral service will be at 10 am Thursday at the funeral home followed by burial at Monmouth Memorial Park in Tinton Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society. For condolences, please visit www.fiorefuneralhomes.com.
