Ernest Leroy "Curly" Hanni, Sr. passed away at home on January 11, 2026. He was born on February 6, 1943, to parents Vincent Homer Hanni and Helen Mae Williams Hanni in Bluffton, Indiana. Curly graduated from Decatur High School in Indiana in 1962.

Curly honorably served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years. He worked for General Telephone Company for 30 years.

Curly married Patti Montgomery on April 10, 1989, in Whitewright, Texas. They shared 36 years of marriage.

Curly was a member of the Kentuckytown Baptist Church.

In his free time, Curly enjoyed collecting sports cards and other memorabilia. He loved to bowl, fish, and plastic canvas crafts. His family was very important to him and he loved going to all the family gatherings.

Curly will be remembered by his wife, Patti L. Hanni of Tom Bean, Texas; children, Yvonne Roth, Laura Murray, Shelia Maillard, Jeff Montgomery, Andrea Cosper and husband, Chad Shields, and Misti Hanni; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ernest Leroy Hanni, Jr.; sister, Eileen Zimmerman; and brother, Melvin Hanni.

The family will greet guests at a visitation from 6-8pm, Monday, January 19, 2026, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow, 201 West Maple Street, Whitewright, Texas 75491. A graveside service will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 5805 Texoma Parkway, Sherman, Texas 76090.
