Patricia Baugh Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel - Bonham on Dec. 30, 2025.
Patricia Carlene Bursell Baugh went to meet Jesus Sunday morning, December 28, 2025. She was at her home in Telephone, Tx, surrounded by her children.
Pat was born in Clinton, OK on April 6, 1941 to Samuel Lee Clay and Ida Jewel Bursell. She spent her early years in various locations in Texas, including Tom Bean. She and her family moved to Gardena, Ca when she was a young girl, where she attended elementary school. The family moved back to Texas, north of Bonham, when she was in high school and she graduated from Bonham High School. While she was in high school, she worked at the K&W Root Beer Stand along with her younger sister, Cordelia. Pat met and married Quinley Carpenter in 1958 and they had two children, Mark and Lisa. After they were divorced, she met and married Thomas "Red" Baugh. The young family moved to Telephone, TX in 1966 and in 1967 they had another daughter, Rhonda.
While her kids were growing up, Pat was first and foremost a wife and mother. After the kids were all in school, she worked a few jobs, including driving a school bus for Sam Rayburn ISD and then working for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Bonham. During this time, her husband Red kept her busy with one hobby after another and in the early 80's, one of these hobbies became a full-time job. Pat quit her job at Blue Cross to become his partner in the business Hell on the Red, Inc., making and selling salsa. It was also about this time that they became grandparents for the first time, a job that they both relished. Pat loved anything that had to do with the grandkids and she left the videos to prove it. Family vacations were always a blast. She made several trips, including New York City, Yellowstone, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon and Disney World. In the last few years, she enjoyed traveling to Branson, Broken Bow, Shreveport and lots of beach trips.
Mom was a fighter and she did her best to stay here with us, but some battles are too much for even the bravest. She leaves behind to carry on her memory children Mark Baugh and Kathy, Lisa Hamilton and Brent and Rhonda Lewis and Jeff. Also left to remember her are her grandchildren Justin Baugh and Stacy, Hannah Baugh, Brentney Hamilton Watson and McClain, Ashton Cabler and Charlie, Tyler Hamilton and Colton Bell, Clay Lewis and Jeran Lewis, along with great-grandkids Delilah Baugh, Coy Cabler, Callan Cabler and Waylon Watson. She also leaves behind sister-in-law Nelda Bursell, brother-in-law John Paul Baugh and Cate, numerous nieces and nephews as well as good friends Sue Fox and Janice Castle.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband Thomas "Red" Baugh, her parents Clay and Jewel Bursell, brother Larry Bursell and sister Cordelia "Kit" Baugh, brothers-in-law James Ball, Duncan Baugh, Pete Baugh, Jim Baugh and sisters-in-law Barbara Ball, Bessie Dizmond and Linda Tschoepe.
Pat was a member of Elwood Baptist Church. She loved Jesus and we know that she is with her beloved Red as well as other family members in heaven.
Services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 3, 2025 at Elwood Baptist Church, with family night Friday, January 2, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Cooper Sorrells Funeral Home. Brother Dennis Noblett and Brother Ronnie Ball will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Grove Cemetery in Telephone.
Pall bearers will be grandsons Justin Baugh, Tyler Hamilton, McClain Watson, Charlie Cabler, Clay Lewis, Jeran Lewis.
Memorial donations can be made to Elwood Baptist Church youth building fund, Telephone VFD, or a charity of your choice.
