Ernest Edward Hedler III

Ernest "Ernie" Edward Hedler III passed away peacefully on December 11, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Ernie was born September 6, 1941 to the late Ernest and Pauline (nee Devereaux) in Philadelphia, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert A. Hedler in 1994.
Ernie grew up and lived most of his life in Hudson, where he made many lifelong friends and cherished memories. He always looked forward to annual Hudson traditions, like the Memorial Day Parade and the July 4th Fireworks display, and faithfully supported any Hudson Explorer or WRA sporting event. He is a 1959 graduate of Western Reserve Academy and from there went on to get his teaching degree from Springfield College in MA. For many years he worked in the travel industry and taught in the Akron Public Schools.
Ernie will be lovingly remembered for his quick wit and humor, along with telling the best story in the crowd.
He leaves his niece, Tracey (Hedler) Vaughn, Kevin Vaughn and his beloved great-nephew, Griffin. We would like to thank his lifelong friends and classmates from WRA, who checked in on him regularly: Rich and Nan Hood, John Gier, Dave Snyder, Harrison Bubb, Bill Shilts and Bill Spohn. Also, a thank you to friend, Bryce Rayburn and the staff and caregivers at The Hudson Elms.
Cremation has already taken place. A small celebration of life will take place among his WRA friends in May 2024.
