Mike Morash, 75, of Alva, Florida, passed away on March 8, 2026 in Alva, Florida surrounded by friends and family.
A private, family interment at St. Vincent de Paul Church is planned.
Mike was born in Schenectady, New York to Merrill and Muriel Morash, and spent his early years in Albany, New York. He graduated from Colonie Central High School, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the University of Akron. He joined the Babcock and Wilcox Company where he spent a 40-year career that eventually took him to all 50 states and a dozen foreign countries where he met and became friends with many people from around the country.
Mike met Janet Janosko in college, and they married on August 4, 1973. Janet patiently followed Mike through his career moving to Copley, Ohio; Lakeland, Florida; Steubenville, Ohio; Marietta, Ohio; Paducah, Kentucky; Cherry Hill, New Jersey; Hudson, Ohio and finally to Alva, Florida, all while raising two children and pursuing a teaching career of her own.
During their retirement in Alva, Mike and Janet joined the River Hall Country Club and became active in club and neighborhood activities, where they made many new friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his dear wife Janet and parents Merrill and Muriel. He is survived by his siblings Mark of Palatka, Florida; Melissa of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire; Matthew of Albany, New York; and Marilyn of Halfmoon, New York. Also surviving is Frieda Barnes, his close fried and companion.
Also surviving is daughter Amy Callahan of Boulder, Colorado with her husband Kevin and children Foster, Porter and Kinsley, and son Craig of Silver Spring, Maryland with is wife Jennifer and children Adeline and Christian.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
