Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 20, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for Ernest P. Jackson, 59, who passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at his residence.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Saturday from 7:00 am to 10:00 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 AM on Saturday.
Rev. George Bede Ajuruchi, SSJ will officiate at the Funeral Mass.
Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery.
Ernest Paul Jackson, Jr. known as Duke, was born on February 12, 1965, to Madeline A. Jackson and the late Ernest Jackson, Sr. On July 3rd he was called home to reunite with our Lord and Savior, he reached the finish line after battling cancer since 2016. He fought a great fight.
Ernest was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend to so many people. He was a person who was "always willing to lend a helping hand and a peace maker to all". Ernest is a graduate of Breaux Bridge High School and he served in the Louisiana National Guard. Ernest's compassion and dedication speaks volumes, he devoted 32 years to AmeriGlob.
Ernest loved sports; he was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. Some of his hobbies included playing basketball, listening to music, dancing, and spending times with loved ones.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his loving partner, Brenda Lively of Jeanerette, La. His God fearing mother, Madeline Jackson of Breaux Bridge, La., 2 daughters, Danika Alexander of Breaux Bridge, La. and Aleiha Theel (Hayden) of Virginia, 1 son, Ernest Paul Jackson III of Lafayette, La. 3 sisters, Sandra Davis, Kim Jackson, and Wanda J. Landry (Marco) all of Breaux Bridge, La. 3 brothers, Nathaniel Jackson of Fort Worth, TX, Jerome Batiste and Eric Jackson (Carol) of Lafayette, La. 6 grandkids, Kohen, Kailey, Kasen, A'Vonnie, Zavir and Jaxton. 2 bonus siblings, Janice Howard of Houston, Tx and Emile Jones (Kathy) of Breaux Bridge, La. Ernest was an unwavering supporter (Dad) to many children with an unbreakable bond to Cassie Borel, Stan Lee Williams, Aukem Harris, and Javon Bernard.
He is proceeded in death by his father, Ernest Jackson, Sr.; parental grandparents, Willie and Nedia Jackson; maternal grandparents, Willie and Harriet Alexander; brother, Mitchell Hypolite; aunt, Mable Alexander; uncles, Johnny Alexander and Charles Jackson, Sr.; nieces, LaTanya Jackson and Yumika Sam; and his nephews, Tre-Dale Mallet and Charles Jackson, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Eric Jackson, Jerome Batiste, Johnny Joe, Kendrick Jackson, Gerald Jackson, and Emile Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be Nathanial Jackson and Ernest Paul Jackson, III.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
