Ernest Maxwell Lundy, Jr, 77 of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on February 2, surrounded by loving family. Ernie was born on October 27, 1948, in Rural Retreat, Virginia, to Earnest Maxwell Lundy and Evelyn Elizabeth Hubble Lundy. He grew up in Rural Retreat and graduated from Rural Retreat High School in 1966, where he had met Linda at a sock hop when they were thirteen. Ernie married his high school sweetheart, Linda Sue Wohlford, on April 7, 1967. This April, they would have celebrated their 59th anniversary. After marriage, Ernie joined the United States Air Force in 1968 and served for 11 years. He was stationed at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia and Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, South Dakota. Ernie was deployed to Korea and Vietnam.

After two tours overseas, Ernie left the military and moved with his family to Cleveland, Tennessee, where they have lived for the last 47 years. Ernie pursued Biblical Studies at Tomlinson College and Business Management at Covenant College while working for 33 years as an electrician at Duracell, Inc. He retired in January 2011.

His legacy continues through his children, Melissa (David) Sanderford, Jennifer (Scott) Ratcliff, and Lucas, and grandchildren, Joshua (Katy) Sanderford, Gideon, Judah, Estee (Connor) Gray, Rebecca, Hannah, and Esther.

Ernie loved reading books, listening to oldies music, and spending time with his family and friends, especially the grandkids. Ernie faithfully served in the church and various ministries. Ernie was known for his good sense of humor and powerful prayers.

Remaining to cherish Ernie's memory are his spouse, Linda; children, Melissa, Jennifer, and Lucas; grandchildren, Joshua (Katy), Gideon, Judah, Estee (Connor), Rebecca, Hannah, and Esther. Sister, Susan (Lundy) Dutton, nephew, Michael, niece Joy (Mike), children, Kayla and Emily, and many other friends, including his loving neighbor Lana Lively, movie night with Paul Jones, and Sunday dinners with Lonnie Matthews.

Preceding Ernie in death are his parents: Earnest Maxwell Lundy and Evelyn Elizabeth (Hubble) Lundy; Brother-in-law, Wiley Dutton.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday February 21, 2026 at 2:00pm held at Companion Funeral Home, 2412 Georgetown Rd NW, Cleveland, TN 37311, with Larry Cockerham officiating.
