Ernest Howard McMinn "Mac" 81 born March 07, 1944 left his home in Fletcher, NC in the early morning of January 29, 2026 for his home in Heaven.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years Lois Sheehan McMinn his children Mark (Vicki), Marvin (Christie), Joyce Pee-Wee Maggert (Chris). His grandchildren Hope, Seth, Cody Sorrells (Hannah), Alex Garren (Caleb), Christopher Maggert, Ashley & Allisa Collins and Tristan Robinson. His great grandchildren Bree, Niko, Zowii, Sophia, Beau, Marlow, Madelyn, McKenna One brother Earl McMinn (Betty) and two sisters Sarah Murray and Francis Sherman (Troy) And his beloved fur baby Sassy among lots of other beloved family and friends.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Marvin and Wilma Sue McMinn two brothers Curtis and Hugh and one sister Sally Sheehan.

Retired from the Air Force with 20 years and one day of service as a Master Sergeant he did two tours in Vietnam and always mentioned being grateful for the soldiers and Marines who kept them safe during his time there he also spent time in the Dominican Republic and numerous TDY's.

He also attended Blue Ridge Community College and earned a degree in Welding and Electrical Engineering as well as employment with Asheville Industries and Steelcase.

He loved to play men's softball as well as coaching girls softball and boys baseball and many musical instruments he was a faithful member of Forge Valley Baptist Church where he loved to play music and sing, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching the Atlanta Braves.

A celebration of life will be on February 4, 2026 at 2:00 at Forge Valley Baptist Church 7419 Boylston Hwy. Mills River, NC.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service and burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville, NC. Military rights will be held at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Forge Valley Baptist Church for missionary needs.
