Ernest "Ernie" Stitchick, 77, of Brownsville (Centerville Borough), passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023, in Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital.
He was born February 5, 1946, in Brownsville, a son of the late Michael and Tillie Bozak Stitchick.
Mr. Stitchick was a 1964 graduate of BethCenter High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as a plane director on the U.S.S. Forrestal.
He was employed as an assembly worker at White Motors in Cleveland, Ohio, then as an underground coal miner at both Vesta #5 and Clyde mines. He eventually became a supervisor with Local Union 1058 Laborers Union retiring after 20 years. He also owned and operated, along with his wife, Antiques on Broad in Belle Vernon.
Ernie's hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening and Chevy trucks. He especially loved his grandchildren and pets.
On December 16, 1995, he married Janice Connors Stitchick, who survives. They celebrated 27 years of marriage.
Also surviving are two stepchildren, John Tomotchko Jr. (Andie) of Filbert, and Billie Robinson (Matt) of Clairage; two children, Michael Stitchick of Carmichaels, and Christina Stitchick of Morgantown, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Katie Tomotchko, Ayda Robinson and McClain Robinson; one great-grandchild, Tyler Gifford Jr.; one brother, John Stitchick (Helen) of Ohio; several nieces and nephews; his beloved pets, Max, Fiona, Alykat and Lucy Weaver.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a brother, Bobby Stitchick.
Friends will be received from 1 to 6:30 p.m., the time of service, Wednesday, March 8, in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd., 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, with the Rev. Henry Frain officiating. Inurnment will be held privately, and at a later date, where Military Rites will be accorded in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
