He was born on June 29, 1935, to William Woolum and Jessie Mae Potter in Four Mile, KY. Ernest graduated from (South) Harriman High School in 1954. He married his beloved wife, Jimmie Lee Swafford, on June 29, 1957. Ernest retired as an air craft examiner from NARF/NAS Pensacola. He was an active member of the Ensley Church of the Nazarene. Ernest loved spending most of his time outdoors tending to his yard and enjoying time with loved ones.
Ernest was known by others for his steadfast faith and deep love for the Lord, and to his family for his goofy, dry sense of humor.
He is survived in death by his brother Jack (Diane) Woolum, sister Lorene Burgin, son William Woolum, daughter Lisa MacPhail, four granddaughters, Kristin (Adam) Cabana, Courtney (Adam) Reed, Summer (Brandon) Tucker, and Morgan (Alex) Aubrey, two grandsons, Johnny (Jessica) MacPhail and Chris MacPhail, beloved seven great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Lee Swafford Woolum; parents, William Woolum and Jessie Mae Potter Woolum; sister, Nadine Kinser; sister, Otawa Woolum.

Billy & Lisa,
Your daddy was a sweetheart, I remember when I started attending Ensley, your daddy always had some sort of candy in his pockets. My son Bryan knew that, every Sunday your daddy would give Bryan a piece of candy a fireball to be exact, the only stipulation he had to be good in church. It worked.

Billy and Lisa,
We were sorry to hear of Ernest's passing. We were sorry we couldn't attend his funeral. He was a true and faithful friend. We have special memories of Ernest. He'll be greatly missed. We'll be praying for comfort for you and your families. We love y'all.
