Ernesto Ybarra Obituary

Ernesto Jacobo Ybarra, affectionately known as "Tetters," was born on March 4, 1983, in Espanola, New Mexico. He passed away unexpectedly on November 10, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, love, and cherished memories.

Ernesto was a handyman and mechanic, recognized for his skills and willingness to lend a hand to those in need. His selfless nature and gentle spirit endeared him to many. Family was of utmost importance to Ernesto, and he poured love into his relationships with his children, his girlfriend April Coffeen, and his extended family. He was known as a quiet and humble man, one who always found the positive in others and refrained from speaking ill of anyone.

Ernesto had a zest for life that manifested in his many hobbies and interests. He loved off-roading in the desert surrounding his home, often taking thrilling trips on his dirt bikes and ATVs. These adventures were not only a source of joy for him but also created lasting memories with his family. He had a particular fondness for fishing trips with his brother, showcasing both his athletic talents and his ability to connect with nature.

Known for his light-hearted spirit, one memorable anecdote involved a misadventure during a wood-gathering trip with his Great Uncle Ernesto when he forgot to put oil in the chainsaw, which led to it seizing up. With a sense of humor, he quipped, "What do we need a chainsaw for?" Such moments illustrated his ability to make any situation enjoyable. Ernesto found time to read the Holy Bible and would surprise his family with his knowledge of its teachings. His love for reading and the attention he received from his loved ones were aspects of his character that truly shone through.

Ernesto is survived by his girlfriend and the mother of his children, April Coffeen; his sons, Christian Cordova and Jaime Archuleta; his daughters, Reyanna Sanchez, April Archuleta, and Layla Archuleta; his mother, Rosalie Trujillo (Peter); his mother-in-law, Theresa Coffeen; his grandmother, Libby Trujillo; his brother, Max Martinez (Andrea); his sisters, Christina Ybarra and Veronica Ybarra; and his uncles, Marvin Trujillo (Lena), Leonard Trujillo (Karen), and Bernie Trujillo (Rose). He is also survived by his aunts, Gloria Romero (Bernie), Dorothy Trujillo, and Nora "Lala" Trujillo who raised him, as well as nieces, Donavine Martinez, Angelina Martinez, Shaniah Ybarra, and Jasmine Ybarra, nephews, Max Martinez Jr., Paul Tafoya, and Carlos Tafoya, and his great niece, Elena Lopez-Martinez.
