MORRIS, Ernie Dene -age 63 of Dayton, Ohio was a man whose creativity and handiness left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Born on Monday, June 5th, 1961, in Dayton, Ohio, Ernie's journey through life was one marked by dedication, passion, and the love of his family. Sadly, he passed away at home on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025.
Ernie attended Stivers High School, where he showcase his natural talents and his knack for bringing his creative visions to life. He carried these skills into his professional life, working for many years at LiteFlex in Englewood, where he was not just an employee but a cherished member of the team. Ernie's passion for detailing cars was well-known, and his meticulous work reflected the pride he took in every task he undertook.
Outside of work, Ernie was a man of many interests, all of which involved working with his hands. He could often be found sitting by a bonfire, whittling away at a piece of wood, or crafting beautiful walking canes that were as functional as they were artistic. His love for gardening was evident to anyone who saw his flowerbeds, which he tended with the same precision and care that he applied to every aspect of his life.
Ernie's creative spirit was matched by his practical skills, making him the go-to person for family and friends whenever something needed fixing or creating. His siblings-Johnny Ray, Jim, Hazel, Terry, Neida, Damon, Rosie, and Walter-will remember him as the brother who cherished and loved his family, the one whose hands could solve problems and create beauty in equal measure.
Though he was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Mimia (née Couch) Morris, and his brother Eli, Ernie's legacy lives on through his two sons, Christopher Morrissey and Eric Harrison, as well as his grandchildren.
Ernie Dene Morris was a man who built, created, and nurtured, leaving behind not just physical creations but a legacy of love, dedication, and artistry that will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to warm the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his remarkable life.
Calling hours for family to receive visiting friends will begin at 12pm on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025 at Schlientz & Moore Funeral Home -1632 Wayne Ave. Dayton, OH 45410. Funeral Service will begin at 1pm.
Ernie will be laid to rest with his family at Woodland Cemetery.
