Frederick Howard Riggs Jr., a devoted husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, surrounded by family. Born on December 18, 1946, Frederick lived a life marked by love, commitment, and a profound sense of duty to both his family and country.

Frederick proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from December 7, 1965, to December 7, 1968, achieving the rank of corporal. His military service was a testament to his patriotic nature, which remained a hallmark of his character throughout his life. Following his time in service, he embarked on a career that would lead him to retire from the Local #162 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union on December 18, 2001.

An alumnus of Stivers High School, Class of 1965, Frederick possessed a natural inclination to share his skills with others. He was known for his willingness to teach, always eager to pass on his extensive knowledge to those around him. Beyond his professional life, he indulged in hobbies such as fishing, wood carving, archery, and trap shooting, enjoying countless moments spent with his family, which he cherished above all else.

Frederick was a loving husband and father, described as kind, caring, and always available to help others. His commitment to his family was unwavering, and he took great pride in being a father to his sons, Donnie and Jerry (Melissa) Riggs. He was a doting grandfather to his grandchildren, Ashley (Edwin) Nyberg, Brittaney Riggs, Christy (Randy) Maxwell, Samantha (Matt) Whitehead, and Joseph Eigel, as well as a proud great-grandfather to ten great-grandchildren. Additionally, Frederick is survived by his siblings, Rick Riggs, Sharon, and Kim, along with many other relatives and friends who will dearly miss his presence.

Frederick reunites in eternal rest with his dear wife, Sharon, who passed away just hours after him. He was also preceded in death by his beloved parents, Frederick and Kathleen Riggs; his wife, Sharon; his sister, Betty Christian; and his brother, Speedy Riggs. His passing, occurring just hours before that of his wife, reflects the deep bond they shared throughout their lives.

His legacy of love, kindness, and commitment to family and country will continue to resonate through the lives he touched. Frederick will forever be remembered for his dedication, generous spirit, and the many lessons he imparted to those fortunate enough to know him.

A visitation for Frederick and his wife, Sharon will be held from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Service will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by burial with military honors at Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 W Third Street.
