Erroll "Earl" Chaumont 85, of Sulphur, LA passed away on May 25, 2023, in a local care facility. Erroll was born on April 14, 1938, in Duralde, LA to Shelton and Lena Chaumont.
Erroll served in the Unites States Army from 1956-1959 as a Sergeant. He was a carpenter for many years and honorably served as a Sheriff's Deputy for Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office for 35 years. He attended Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. In his earlier years enjoyed hunting with his best buddies and relatives. He also enjoyed being with his two sons at his camp, he also enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends at Brookshire Brothers every morning. Erroll also enjoyed wood working in his shop building tables and chairs for kids. He has an incredible sense of humor, and he loved playing with his grandkids and couldn't wait for them to get out of school or daycare in the afternoon.
Survivors include by his loving wife of 41 years, Christine "Chris" Foux Chaumont; sons, Christopher Chaumont of Hayes, LA, John Chaumont and wife Kristy of Sulphur, LA; grandchildren, Ashley Hoffpauir, Trevor Chaumont, Declan and Tilly; brother, Bryan Chaumont and Pat, Dorsey Chaumont and Barbara; sister, Zerelda Cooper; great grandchildren, Edith, Amelia, and Ellis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Warren and Everett Chaumont. Special thanks to Heart of Hospice and to Addison, Ashley, Misty, and Gena.
Pall Bearers include: John Chaumont, Brian Foux, Trevor Chamount, Lynsey Badon, Nick Nezat, and Jared Benoit. Honorary Pall Bearers: Gary Barnes, Roe Fuselier, Jim Philmon, Gerald Romero, Barney Manuel, and Sam Ange.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM on Monday, May 29, 2023, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 8:00 AM Tuesday, May 30, 2023, until we leave for the church. The burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery South.
