Ervin Eugene "Gene" Johnson

Ervin Eugene Johnson "Gene", 79, of Wauchula, Florida, passed away on December 2, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Gene was born March 26, 1946, in Pahokee, Florida, to Russell and Inez (Bowers) Johnson. A longtime resident of Hardee County, he served the community for many years as the electrician supervisor for the Hardee County School System. He was a member of the Church of God in Wauchula and was devoted to his family and his faith. Gene served his country by enlisting in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Inez Johnson; brothers James, Charles, and Roger Johnson; and sister Barbara Holder.

Gene is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Johnson of Wauchula; sons Joseph Johnson and wife Stephanie of Leesburg, Florida and Christopher Johnson and wife Cherie of Wauchula, Florida; daughter Amanda Johnson and her wife Lisa of Fountain, Florida; sister Debbie Stark and husband Walter of Ona, Florida; grandchildren Hollie Blair, Brooke Johnson, Katelyn Enciso, Caryssa Johnson, Bailey Johnson, and Cayden Johnson; and great-grandchildren Brayden Mead, Carter Mead, Caleb Mead, Ralleigh Blair, Ja'Niyah Enciso, Khai Enciso, CialynnJo Metcalf, Easton Szabo, Madison Szabo, and Mayson Garner.

Visitation will be held at Roberts Garden Chapel on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, with funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM. Pastor Doyle Staton will officiate. Interment will follow at Wauchula City Cemetery.
