Ervin Gene Stokes

Flintstone, MD – Ervin Gene Stokes, 73, of Flintstone, MD, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born October 29, 1951, in Allegany County, MD, Ervin was the son of the late James Abraham Stokes and Margaret Anna (Schurg) Stokes. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: James, William, Upton, and Kenneth Stokes; his sisters: Dora Bishop and Shirley "Jane" Smith; and a grandson: Craig Stokes.

Ervin was a veteran of the United States Army, and a former employee of Overhead Door Company. He was a member of the NRA, and enjoyed working on his GTO and his house. Ervin loved fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his son: Christopher Stokes (Angela); his daughter: Jennifer Stokes; a grandson: Grady Stokes; his sisters: Janet Stokes, Jeannette Miller, and Patricia Leitzen: and his brother: Robert Stokes; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Wednesday September 10, 2025, from 10:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.

A committal service will be conducted at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap following the visitation at 1:00 P.M.

Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ervin's name to the VVA Chapter #172, 17 N. Liberty Street, Cumberland, MD, 21502.
