Esperanza Cadena Obituary
Esperanza "Ama" Cadena, 86 years of age, was called home on Sunday, April 30, 2023 in a Corpus Christi hospital after a short illness. She was born in San Diego, Texas to her parents, Jose and Maria Torres on February 14, 1937. Ama was a loving and devoted mother who dedicated her life to her family and raising her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles and watching her novellas and her pet companion, Boye. Ama will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Felix Cadena Jr.; grandson, Angel Alaniz; her parents, Jose and Maria Torres; ex-husband, Felix Cadena Sr.; brothers, Jose Ramon, Marcelo, Armando, Geronimo, and Anastacio; sisters, Rita, Melida.
Ama is survived by her son, Norberto (Alma Alaniz) Cadena of Freer, Texas; two daughters, Julie (John Valle) Cadena of San Antonio, Texas; Linda (Adan Gonzalez) Cadena of Alice, Texas; a grandson raised as a son, Felix Cadena of San Antonio, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, May 8. 2023 at Garza Funeral Home in Freer, Texas with a Prayer Services at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Services will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Garza Funeral Home in Freer, Texas with Associate Pastor Priscilla Martinez-Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow at Hahl Memorial Cemetery in Freer, Texas.
