Estelle S Chandler, 102, of Austin, Indiana passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023 in her home.
Born June 2, 1920 in Madison Co, KY, she was the daughter of the late E. A. and Nannie Barlow (Sanders) Stocker.
She married Ellsworth W Chandler on October 8, 1949.who passed away April 28, 2000.
She was a retired employee of US Shoe Corp Crothersville, IN and a member of the Austin Christian Church.
Estelle loved her family and her many friends and enjoyed baking her famous zucchini and banana bread and canning green beans from her garden. Ellsworth and Estelle made "Chandlerburger Baskets" and had booths at many local festivals. She always kept in touch with the college youth of her church with notes of encouragement and always had words of wisdom for everyone on her homemade magnets and pen holders. Special friends received personalized cards for special occasions on pieces of her torn wallpaper.
Survivors include her
grandsons: Jeff Hendren of New York City, New York; Jon Hendren of Indianapolis, Indiana; Scott Hendren of Philadelphia, PA. and greatgrandchildren: John, Elizabeth, Chandler, Olivia and Matthew Hendren
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Rob Hendren and 6 brothers, Stratton, Todd, Carl, Curtis, Clayborn and Vernon Stocker.
Visitation will be 10am until 12 noon Saturday with a funeral service at 12 noon at Buchanan Funeral Home, Austin, IN with burial following at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Austin, IN. with Rev. Dave Huey officiating. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Austin Christian church at a later day and time.
In Lieu of Flowers the family requests donations given to the Austin Christian Church Youth Fund, Austin, IN
Services will be handled by Buchanan Funeral Home, Austin, IN- --
