Esther Maria (Ingold) Hooton, age 80, of Logan, passed away on Monday, December 8th, 2025 in her home surrounded by many of her loved ones and holding the hand of her soulmate, her best friend, her loving husband.

Our beloved mother, Esther, was born to Bruno and Klara Ingold in Burgdorf, Switzerland on April 11, 1945. In 1949 they immigrated to America and soon settled in Cache Valley.
Esther and Dan were married on May 24, 1965 in Logan, Utah.

She is survived by her longtime spouse, Daniel Hooton, five of her six children, Danielle (Troy) Crosbie, Doug Hooton, Dallan Hooton, Dustin (Eden) Hooton, Derek (Cherie) Hooton, 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and her four sisters, Beatrix (Warren) Sorenson, Eva (Alan, deceased) Nelson, Brigitta (Donald) Westenskow and Monica Ingold. She is preceded in death by her son, David Hooton.

Mom loved the outdoors and went camping or spent time gardening any chance she got. Camping with her family was her ultimate favorite. We all have so many great memories of those adventures.
She belonged to the Old Ephraim Mountain Men Club for many, many years and thoroughly enjoyed participating in the mountain men rendezvous at Blacksmith Fork Canyon every year.
She loved gardening and always had a beautiful yard full of an abundance of flowers (and gnomes).
She was proud of her grandkids and all of their accomplishments and thrived on spending time with them.
Her greatest accomplishment in life was raising six very strong-willed and beautiful children. In that, she greatly succeeded!

We would like to thank all of the hospital staff, Maple Springs staff, Acsend Home Health Care staff, hospice staff and the Cache Valley Mortuary for all of your love and assistance with our beloved mother.

As per her request, there will not be a viewing nor a funeral. Her wishes were to be cremated and her ashes to be spread in the same location as her son's.
There will, however, be a Celebration of Life in the spring, on her birthday, April 11th. Those details to be announced at a later date.

In her honor, please feel free to plant a tree or flowers, or place a gnome in your flower bed. She would love that!
