Esther Marek Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Voran Funeral Home - Taylor Chapel on Mar. 13, 2026.
Esther G. Marek, a beacon of love and wisdom, was called to her heavenly home on March 11, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on March 2, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan, to John and Julia Nagy, Esther's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and the deep bonds of family.

A graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Esther's intellect and organizational skills shone brightly throughout her career. She retired from Ford Motor Company, where she served with distinction as the Secretary of the Dealer Policy Board. Her colleagues remember her as a pillar of intelligence and passion, a woman who brought both dedication and warmth to her professional endeavors.

Esther's Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and her relationships with those around her. She walked through life with grace and purpose, embodying the love of Christ in her every interaction. Her family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will be cherished by all who knew her.

She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Marek and a devoted mother to her daughter, Susan Slusarczyk (Kevin Slusarczyk). The bond she shared with her late son-in-law, Kevin, was one of mutual respect and affection. Esther's role as a grandmother to Jonathan Slusarczyk (Sarah Slusarczyk) and Mekenna Romano (Donald Romano) was filled with tender moments, life lessons, and unconditional love. Her brother, John Nagy, and nephew, David Nagy, will hold dear the memories of her guidance and care. She is preceded in death by her sister, Ethel Johnston. As siblings, they shared a lifetime of love and cherished moments with Esther.

Esther's interests and hobbies were a reflection of her vibrant spirit and her love for life's simple pleasures. Her garden was a haven of beauty. An amazing cook, Esther's chicken paprikash, pork chops, and stuffed peppers were legendary, each dish prepared with love and savored by all who had the privilege to taste them. Her love for reading, crosswords, and Scrabble kept her mind sharp, and she was a formidable opponent in any word game. Evenings found her engaged with her favorite television shows, "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel of Fortune," where she would outshine the contestants with her quick wit and vast knowledge.

Esther's love for her Mini Dachshunds was a joy to behold, as she showered them with the same affection and care she gave to her family and friends. Intelligent, passionate, and loving, Esther's presence was a gift to all who knew her. Her legacy is one of a life well-lived, filled with the pursuits that brought her joy and the people she adored.

As we bid farewell to Esther G. Marek, we celebrate a life that was rich in love and abundant in achievements. Her memory will be treasured in the hearts of those she touched, and her spirit will continue to inspire us all. Rest in peace, dear Esther, until we meet again in the glory of God's kingdom.
