Esther D. Martin, 88, of Goshen, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior, while surrounded by her family, at 10:05 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Waterford Crossing Health Center, Goshen.
She was born on Dec. 16, 1936, in LaGrange, to Daniel C. and Susan (Miller) Beachy. On June 28, 1969, in Elkhart County, she married Arthur A. Martin, he survives.
Survivors in addition to her husband are two sons, Eric L. Martin of Goshen, and Terry E. (Wanda) Martin of Goshen; a granddaughter, Emilia Martin of Goshen; two sisters, Sarah (Jacob) Stolzfus of Goshen and Barbara Bender of Goshen; and two sisters-in-law, Irene Beachy of Sarasota, Florida, and Mary Ellen Beachy of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Eli, Alvin, Harvey, Neal, Daniel and David Beachy; and four sisters, Katie Ann Jones, Anna Gingerich, Susie Miller and Ida Yoder.
Esther was a member of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, a homemaker and a saleslady for World Book Encyclopedia. She had worked for Farm Bureau Credit Union (now Interra Credit Union) for several years prior to her retirement. She loved to cook both at home and for church events. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, often working on a quilt project together.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, 64901 C.R. 11, Goshen. There will also be one hour of viewing prior to the 3 p.m. funeral service on Monday, July 14, also at the church. Services will be conducted by Pastors Wes Bontreger and Doug Gerber. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Mennonite Cemetery, Goshen.
Memorials may be given to MCC (Mennonite Central Committee). Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury is in charge of arrangements.
