Esther Helen Pierce, a woman remembered for her love and family devotion, passed away peacefully at the age of 101 on October 5, 2025, at Vibrant Life Assisted Living in Durand. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Durand with services conducted by Pastor Bob Brenner. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, with family present, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Born on December 12, 1923, in Roberts, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Valentine and Rosie (Fuoss) Hornstein. Esther's life was a testament to the strength and warmth of her spirit, which touched everyone she knew.

Esther's journey began in the small town of Roberts, before the family moved to Michigan. Esther's work at Roussin's Market in Durand showcased her commitment to her community and her ability to create connections with those she served. On September 9, 1955, Esther married the love of her life, Alan J. Pierce, in Swartz Creek. Together, they built a life filled with joy and purpose.

A devout Christian, Esther lived her faith through her actions and interactions with others; she was a long time member of the Durand Global Methodist Church. Her kindness and generosity were the cornerstones of her belief, and she embodied the Christian principles of love and charity every day. Esther's passion for life was evident in her involvement with 4H, and the Locomotions Square Dance Club in Durand. She and Alan also enjoyed camping and traveling extensively, often with their square dancing friends.

Her family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her loving daughters, Linda (Clark) Harder and Janet (Don) Kamm, along with her adored grandchildren, Jeremy (Jenn) Harder, Paul Kamm, Amanda Kamm, also her great-grandchildren, Dia, Jolie, and Grant. Esther also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alan, and her sisters, Ruth McLaughlin, Selma Gurden, Gladys Hudson and June Coon.

As we bid farewell to Esther, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman dearly loved.

The family would like to thank Vibrant Life Assisted Living and Amara Hospice for the care and support they gave Esther.

Memorial donations in Esther's name can be directed to the Durand Global Methodist Church.
