Esther Martha Reger

Esther Reger, 95, of Weston, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, August 17th, at Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Weston, WI, under St. Croix Hospice Care.

Esther Martha (Wietrzykowski) Koskey was born June 10, 1930, at home in Kronenwetter, WI, to the late Anton and Helen (Budnik) Koskey.

Esther went to school through eighth grade and then off to work. She worked in Chicago at a factory building TVs. After moving back to Rothschild, Esther worked at Community Bakery and later at Schaumbergers Grocery Store. Esther met Eugene Reger at a dance at Colonial Ballroom. They dated for several years and then, on October 17, 1959, they were united in marriage at St. Therese Catholic Church in Rothschild. Eugene preceded her in death on March 8, 2025.

Esther took great pride in caring for others, including her parents, brothers, and sisters. In addition to her caring ways, Esther loved to play Bingo, go to the casino, and cheer on the Milwaukee Brewers (especially #10, Sal Frelick.) We think she was waiting for the Brewers' 14th win before she would leave us!

Esther is survived by her son, Peter (Joyce) Reger, Kronenweter; daughter, Jacqueline (Terry Wahls) Reger, Iowa City, IA; six grandchildren, Callie Reger, Ryan Reger, Zach (Chloe Angyal) Wahls, Zebby Wahls, Jonathan (Tara) Jagler, and Jennifer Davidson; seven great-grandchildren, Camille Reger, Anthony Reger, Elijah Bloom Wahls, Callie Jagler, Emily Jagler, Aubrey Davidson, and Aaron Davidson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers, Edward, Leonard, Stanley, and Barney Koskey; and her sisters, Irene Waldenberger, Ann Lewandowski, and Lorraine Akavickas.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 25, 2025, at St. Mark Catholic Parish, 602 Military Road, Rothschild, with The Rev. Janusz Kowalski celebrating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter.
