Esther E. Sanchez

Esther Sanchez de Escobedo passed away on March 9, 2025, after a few years of battling Dementia Alzheimer.
Esther was born in Hualahuises Nuevo León Mexico on June 3, 1931, to Gilberto Escobedo and Maria Criselda de Los Reyes. She was the third oldest of the 12 children her parents had. Esther completed school and became an elementary school teacher for a classroom of boys. A family history of Esther's, her uncle, Mariano Escobedo was a Mexican Army general and Governor of Nuevo León who took part in the Battle of Puebla on 5 May 1862 to defeat the French, which is why we celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
Esther and Tomas moved to Texas and worked as migrant workers. They later traveled to Idaho and Oregon in 1961 and 1962, and then settled down in Oregon in 1963, raising their six children in Keizer, Oregon. Esther was a homemaker for many years but would later go to work for Kmart and then Woodburn Cannery, where she ultimately retired from. She enjoyed many things and always kept herself active. Esther loved to knit, was a great seamstress and loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed trips to the casino. Esther and Tomas were very active in the Catholic Church community.
Esther leaves behind her husband of 68 years, Tomas Sanchez de Sepulveda, a daughter, Thelma (Dominic) of Beaverton, and four sons, Tomas III, (Corinna) of Salem, Angel (Michelle) of Portland, Raul (Tom) of Gresham and Yudel of Las Vegas, NV. She also leaves behind 24 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren and 2 brothers, Carlos and Homero, and 2 sisters, Maria de la Carmen and Irma.
Esther is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Hector, Antonio, sisters Elvia, Manuela, Raquel, Maria Elena, and her oldest daughter, Maria Schuelzke.
Esther's children and grandchildren, great grandchildren will sorely miss her presence. "Tita, we love you and will miss you." Tus queridos.
