Ethel Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by King-Tears Mortuary, Inc. - Austin on Jan. 26, 2026.
Remembering the life of the compassionate, charismatic, funny, and loving Ethel Mae Davis, born on May 17, 1932, in Travis County, Texas. Ethel was a beacon of joy and love to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She lived her life by the motto, "Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see," by Mark Twain, and embodied this sentiment in her daily life. Ethel's love for the outdoors, her pets, and her garden were just some of the ways she shared her warmth and vitality with the world.

Ethel, a beloved member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, spent her life in service to her family, friends, and community. She brought laughter and light to the lives to all of those around her. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Monroe and Rosielee Crayton-Monroe, her husband, Bennie Davis, her siblings, Sylvia Bradford, Gladys Taylor, Elder D.C. Monroe, Emory Lee Monroe, J.D. Monroe, Imogene James, and her daughter, Joyce Harrison, and grandchild, Derrick Harrison.

A public visitation for Ethel will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 9:00 am MST at Alice Taylor King Chapel, 1300 East 12th Street, Austin, Texas, 78702. Following the visitation, a service to celebrate Ethel's life will begin at 11:00 am CST at the same venue. Ethel will be laid to rest at 1:00 pm CST at Evergreen Cemetery in Austin, Texas, 78721.

As Ethel's life was filled with laughter, love, and joy, so too will be her memorial. In the spirit of her love for life and her ability to bring a smile to anyone's face, we encourage you to share your favorite memories or photos of Ethel on her memorial page. It's the stories and memories that keep our loved ones alive in our hearts. So let's celebrate Ethel's life by sharing the joy she brought into ours.
