It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ethel Lucille (Fisher) Houman on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 from an illness related to a fall.
Ethel was the matriarch of her family and extended family. She provided a love filled home for her family and all the furry family members. One of her favorite jobs was working for Hope, Georgia Student Finance Authority, assisting students with grants and funding to further their education. Her adoration for those she worked with was special and brought her a lifetime of friends.
Ethel began her life on April 20, 1936 in NYC, the daughter of Warren Lagrand Fisher and Mildred Lucille Fisher. At a young age the family moved to Norwich, NY where she met and then later married the love of her life, John (Jack) Robert Houman. Their union of almost 50 years raised their four children in Maryland, Chicago and Atlanta suburbs. She is survived by her four children, John Leonard Houman, Julienne Houman Cargle, Christopher Michael Houman and Gerald Patrick Houman; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Her love for her family and friends reached beyond this world. She holds each one close to her heart and let them know they were loved. She rarely passed up an invite to the neighborhood parties, they were a highlight of her life. Her most recent and special joy was becoming a great grandma.
Ethel is now with the love of her life, Jack, probably on the back of a motorcycle cruising Heavens mountains. Until we meet again, love you from all of us.
The memorial service to celebrate the life of Ethel Lucille Houman will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM, Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel, Snellville, GA. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 10 AM – 11 AM at the funeral home.
