Ethel Mae Jarman Jacobs 94 of Cumming, GA passed away peacefully after a long illness on January 31, 2025. Ethel was born and raised in Richlands, NC. Ethel was one of 13 children of Roscoe & Ethel Jarman. Ethel enjoyed being with her family and looked forward to the annual Jarman Reunion each July when all her brothers and sisters and their families would all come together with a covered dish lunch. Ethel had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. She worked for the Milner family in Atlanta for over 40 years retiring around the age of 84. She enjoyed playing tennis and played up into her 80’s.
Ethel was preceeded in death by husband John Jacobs, son Stephen Whaley, granddaughter Stephenie Whaley, son-in-laws Neil Hanberry and Chuck McBride, Brothers Henry Jarman, Carl Jarman, John Jarman, and Doug Jarman. Sisters Sallie Lee Jenkins, India Grace Allen, Edna Kate Rasnick and Minnie Lou Jarman.
Ethel is survived by her daughter Pam McBride of Cumming, daughter-in-law Cathy Whaley of Princeton, NC, step-daughter Beryl Horton of Naper, NE, grandchildren Michelle (Amos) Gaines, Cumming, GA, Jessica (Sean) Rhodes, Dawsonville, GA, Aubrey (Mike) Christy, Clayton, NC, Drew (Harley) Whaley, Smithfield, NC, Hunter and Christian Whaley, Princeton, NC. Great-grandchildren Victoria Telesco, Kaitlyn Gaines, Knox Gaines, Savannah Gaines, Teagan Rhodes, Declan Rhodes, Kadence Rhodes, Brayden Miles, Harper Miles and Theo Miles. Great-great grandson Leo Gaines. Brothers James (Joann) Jarman, Beulavillle, NC, Ronald Dean (Maxine) Jarman, Mill River, NC, Harvey (Margaret) Jarman, Wilmington, NC, Bill (Carol) Jarman, Crossville, TN, and sister-in-law Vivian Jarman, Springfield, GA. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Ethel’s celebration of life will be in July surrounded by family in NC.
