Ethel Lorraine Spicer Long was born September 7, 1922 in College Township, the ninth child of George W. Spicer and Bessie Walker Spicer and passed March 16, 2021. She attended the State College schools. She worked as a maid for various residences in State College until her marriage on February 9, 1948, to Ralph E. Long of Centre Hall, PA. Together they farmed until his death on March 28, 1999. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.
She continued living on the farm and enjoyed gardening, flowers, watching birds and painting. Only when she began to lose her sight several years ago did she stop sending hand-painted Christmas cards to family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and five brothers and four sisters.
She was the last of her generation. She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Wert and husband Jeffry and her son Roger E. Long along with three grandchildren, Jason Wert and wife Kathy, Natalie Corman and husband Grant, all of Centre Hall, and Jacob Long and wife Payton of Chattanooga, TN. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Rachel Wert of Gettysburg and Gabriel Wert of Washington, DC, numerous nieces and nephews all of whom she loved. There will be no public viewing because of COVID-19 and burial will be private at Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
An online guestbook may be signed and condolences sent to the family at www.heintzelmanfuneralhome.com
