Ethel Greer Morefield, age 93 of Laurel Bloomery, TN, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, May 1, 2025 at Watauga Medical Center. Ethel was born September 10, 1931 in Laurel Bloomery of Johnson County, TN to the late John F. Greer and Anna Gentry Greer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Morefield; step-son, Dave Morefield; sisters, Alice Miller, Wilma Greer, Iris Hux-Greer; brother, Wayne Greer; sisters-in-law, Ruth Blevins Greer, Kathleen Greer and brothers-in-law, Julian Miller, Charles Hux, Vance Greer, Marvin (Effie), Charlie, Homer (Mary Alice), Sam (Lou Ella), Jim, Scott (Juanita), and Rector Morefield.
Ethel is survived by her daughter, Marcia Thomas (Wade); sons, Mike Morefield (Linda), John, Joe, and Robby; grandchildren, Penny Chappell (Todd), Michael Morefield (Samantha), and Anna Morefield; great grandchildren, Isaac, Kingston, Shaylee, and Josie; sisters-in-law, Ruth Martin (Charlie), Violet, and Rose Ella Morefield; several nieces and nephews and her loyal pet companions, Ellie, Buddy and Jada.
Ethel was a lifetime member of State Line Baptist Church and surrendered her life to Christ at an early age. She enjoyed reading her Bible and listening to gospel music. A milestone in her life was being part of a mission team helping in the construction of an orphanage in Somotillo, Nicaragua.
Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to travel, enjoying many trips with various family members.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 -3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Mountain City Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will follow at 3 p.m. with Michael Icenhour officiating.
At other times, friends and family may visit the home of Mike and Linda Morefield, 1151 Sugar Creek Rd, Laurel Bloomery, TN 37680.
