Ethel Sloan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Christian Sells Funeral Home on Feb. 2, 2026.
Ethel Lois Sloan, age 87, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at Nova Health and Rehab Center.

She was born on February 25, 1938, in Rogersville, Tennessee, to William George Horne and Volena Lawson Horne. Lois lived a life marked by her devotion to family and a deep love for caring for others.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Hunt Sloan; her parents, George and Volena Horne; her sister, Sarah Grace Hutchens; and her nephew, Randy Hutchens.

Lois is survived by several very special nieces and nephews who cherished her love, guidance, and steady presence throughout their lives.

Lois was a wonderful homemaker who took great pride in caring for her home and family. Alongside her husband Tom, she lovingly cared for many children over the years, treating each one as her own. Teaching children good manners, kindness, and respect was one of her greatest joys, and her influence left a lasting impression on all those she nurtured.

A very special thank you to Nova Health and Rehab for the wonderful care and kindness they have shown Lois and her family throughout her time at their facility.

A Funeral ceremony will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Christian-Sells Funeral Home with Rev. Steve McKinney officiating. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.christiansells.com
