Funeral Services for Ethel Modene Wheat are Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church and burial is at Caledonia Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at the funeral home 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday at the church 12:00 p.m. until service time. Pallbearers to serve are Ray Gilliam, Kevin Travis, Jerry Crocker, Steven Gibson, John Sneed, Jeremy Gilliam and Junior Gibson.
Mrs. Wheat, 96 years old, died Saturday, August 5, 2023, at her residence. She is a homemaker, and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was born in Henry on May 31, 1927 to Samuel Fentris and Mary Catherine McDaniel McLeod.
She is survived by two sons Larry D Wheat and Sam L. (Lisa) Wheat both of McKenzie, ten grandchildren Candi (Nick) Lowe, Cheryl (Glenn) Harralston, Samantha (Matt) Massey, Sara Wilson, Jonathan (Heather) Wheat, Tammy ( Tony) Lane, Lisa (Johnny) Goode, Timmy (Krista) Nored, Josh (Cassie) Filtz and Phillip (Karen) Filtz, twenty one great-grandchildren Alyse Lowe, Ashlyn McFarland, Drew(Shyanna) McFarland, Alex McFarland, Bryant Ward, Sadie Goff, Marlee Wheat, McCoy Wheat, Kinsley Wilson, Kingston Wilson, Rumor (Taylor) Gibson, Mason Price Clint (Monika) Woodard, Melissa Woodard, Brandi (Justin) Nunnery, Ethan Nored, Charlie Filtz, Lilly Allen, Anniston Allen, Emerson Essary and Kaylee Aroche and fourteen great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband B.J. Wheat, daughters Faye Nored, Mary Burnine, Sarah Jane Wheat –Filtz, son Barry Joe Wheat, sister Pauline Harrison, brother Harley McLeod and grandson Jason Wheat.
