We celebrate the life of Eugene Benedict Aguirre. Eugene was born in Miles City, Montana, but lived his entire life in Gardner, CO. He attended the Gardner school through 8th grade and then attended John Mall High School. After high school, Benedict was drafted to the army during the Vietnam era for two years. He was stationed in New York, but Benedict also served in Germany. He then attended Colorado University in Boulder before marrying the love of his life, Joyce Aguirre. He and Joyce were married for 46 years. They had two daughters, Lisa and Claudia, whom they raised in Gardner. Benedict was a family man. He always prioritized his family and their needs above all. Benedict had many friends from all walks of life that he had made throughout his time here on Earth, and he valued each friendship in his own way. In addition, he also was a public servant serving as the deputy Sheriff of Gardner for over 23 years and was a key player in bringing the Gardner Volunteers' Fire Department and fire station to Gardner as well as leading search and rescue expeditions in the higher mountains. He was a jack of all trades, as he built his and Joyce's home with his own two hands, and he was a mechanic, often fixing cars for friends or neighbors as well as his own. Golfing, skiing, camping, carpentry and riding his motorcycle were some of his favorite pastimes to name a few. Eugene lived a full life loved dearly by those he has left to carry on his legacy. He leaves his daughters Lisa Aguirre, Claudia (Miguel) Garcia, and Alissa (Dan) Sanchez to cherish his memory as well as his grandchildren Randal Roybal, Victoria Dixon, Stephanie Garcia, Dana Garcia, Angel Garcia, Cynthia Garcia, Iysha Sanchez, Adryanna Boulier, and Jaycob Sanchez. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Nick and Raquel Aguirre, and Anthony and Tomasita Espinoza, and his parents, Clorinda Espinoza and Benedict Aguirre, all of Gardner. Eugene is also preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Joyce Aguirre. Ben was a big man in stature and in life. He was well known throughout the community and made an impact on many people. To know Ben was to love and respect Ben. Please join his celebration of life on Saturday, February 1, 2025 in Gardner at the Sacred Heart Church at 11:00 am. Reception to follow at the Gardner Community Center.
