Born in Wise County, VA he had been the husband of Jo Anne Smith Bartley. He had been a resident of Salem County since he was eight years old, prior to that he had lived in Virginia. Prior to his retirement, he had worked as a Fiberizer for Manville Fiberglass.
In his free time, he enjoyed listening to country music and watching old westerns and war films. Most of all Eugene enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by; his wife and companion of over 50 years, Jo Anne Bartley; his son, Eugene Burnett Bartley, Sr.; and his grandchildren, Ashley Anne, Alexander, Eugene Burnett, Jr. and Geena Dee. He was preceded in death by; his parents; and his children, Dolores June and William Lee.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral homes website, www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
