The bell ending my last class with Mr. Berndt sounded more than 58 years ago and I still find myself telling stories about our year together: his chalk-talks revealing how to break down a problem, algebraic transformations, logic (remember to test for zero), sophisticated sense of humor, and how he was an all-'round good guy. Wishing warm condolences to all who loved him and hopes his memory is a blessing to all who knew him. DJSloan/Houston
