Wright, Martha Jane McCrea Age 96 of Minnetonka, passed away on September 9th, 2025. Preceded in death by parents Ethelwynn and Roy McCrea, and brother Jack McCrea. MJ was a Minneapolis Washburn High 1947 graduate. She attended MacMurray College, Jacksonville, IL for two years then transferred to the University of Minnesota, where she received a BA in Arts and Journalism. She worked at several ad agencies in Minneapolis, including ERA and Honeywell, writing their monthly newsletter. She became Assistant Manager at Dayton's Advertising Dept. where she produced a daily full-page newspaper ad for the Downtown store for 6 years. She served on various committees at Plymouth Congregational Church, attended church, women's clubs, American Society of University Women, and Delt Delta Delta Sorority. Her brother Jack taught her to ski at an early age. Martha met her husband, Fred B. Wright III, while skiing. Aspen was their favorite place to ski and they honeymooned there. She enjoyed attending classical music concerts, traveling in their RV, swimming, walking, and aerobics. Martha was our family genealogy researcher, a member of the Minnesota Genealogical Society and the past president of the Yankee Genealogical Society, a branch of MGS. She studied the history of our ancestors before the internet. Fred and Martha traveled the United States and Canada by RV to the dozens of cities and towns of our ancestors obtaining vital records from courthouses, libraries, and genealogy centers. In 1998 Fred and Martha vacationed in Scotland for two weeks and stayed one night at the Eilean Donan Castle, stronghold of the Clan MacCrea. Martha chose to be a stay-at-home mom and was always there for her children. Martha is survived by husband Fred, daughter Kathryn, son Frederick "Fritz" (Annalese), and grandson Brendan. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 29th at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel (5000 W 50th St.) at 2pm with a visitation one hour prior.
