Comhbhrón ó chroí, Michael,
I was so sad to learn that your Dad had passed on. Since meeting him in 2004 when I began assisting with The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of The Oranges' annual dinner, he always was kind and made me laugh, and made my life easier as one of the few Trustees who always gave me the names of his dinner guests AND paid for their tickets ahead of time. As proud as he was of being Irish, nothing that I know of made him prouder than when you were selected as the 2014 Young Irishman of the Year.
Also, since until the last few years Gene was the only person I knew who did not have an email address, I enjoyed having the chance to call to notify Gene of the date of the dinner and have a few minutes to talk to your dear Mom. Ginny and I always joked that we were going to start our own organization, The Friendly Daughters of St. Patrick of The Oranges, and hold our dinner on the same night. She was a true treasure!
Peace to you, Michael. May your parents rest together again in eternity, in the light and love of our Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ.
