EUGENE CAUDILL, 92, of Lexington KY, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in 1932 in West Van Lear, KY to the late Fred Caudill and Clara Mae (Russell) Caudill, he attended high school in Huntington, West Virginia before attending the University of Kentucky where he graduated with a degree in accounting.
After marrying his beautiful bride, Dolly Chandler, he served in Korea as a Captain in the United States Army, where he led with honor and integrity. Following his military service, Eugene built a long and respected career in finance, serving as Director of Accounting for General Telephone of Kentucky.
In retirement he managed his own private accounting practice and was the horseman's bookkeeper at Keeneland race track. He and Dolly truly enjoyed extensive travel to Europe and the Middle East.
Outside of his professional life, Eugene gave generously of his time and talents to his community. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball, youth football and basketball, and was involved in South Lexington Sports Boosters. He was also a proud original member of the Lexington Catholic High School's "Grumpy Old Men" and inducted into Lexington Catholic Hall of Fame. He loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife (of 70 years) Dolly Chandler Caudill, six children: Jesse (Martha), Fred (Amanda), Andy (Jodie), Larry (Lynne), Laura (Keith), and Derby and thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers: donate to Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Church (859-278-7432) or Lexington Catholic High School (859-277-7183).
Funeral services for Mr. Caudill will be 11:00AM Friday, November 7th at Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary, 601 Hill N Dale Rd., Lexington, KY 40503. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00PM till 7:00PM Thursday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Rd, Lexington, KY.
