Eugene L. "Gene" Clark, 86, of Mount Carroll, Illinois died on Thursday, February 29, 2024. He was born on February 23, 1938, the son of Louis and Anna (Landon) Clark. On November 15, 1969, Gene married Irene Edge in Aurora, Washington. Gene served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a heavy equipment operator and had worked on the Alaskan pipeline working for Lindbrook Construction, Seattle Washington. He then worked for Midwest Operators of Joliet, Illinois. Gene was a lifetime member of Local 150 International Union of Operating Engineers. He was a kind man who enjoyed helping others.
Gene is survived by his wife Irene, son Tony Nihles, sisters, Cathy (Chris Graf) Schiessl and Lois Jean Melvin, brothers Richard (Bonnie) Clark and Paul Clark, sisters-in-law Geraldine Kuhls and Carolyn Kane, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Randy Nihles and Terry Nihles, and brothers, William Clark, Michael Clark and Patrick Clark.
Family and friends may call from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday, March 8, 2024 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory in Platteville, Wisconsin. Online condolences may be expressed at www.melbyfh.com.
