Eugene Day age 60, of Kopperl, passed away on December 26, 2024 in Waco, Texas surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Funeral services will take place at 11 A.M., Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at the Cleburne Bible Church in Cleburne, Texas. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Dean Elliot and Pastor Darrell Wickert will officiate.
Eugene Day was born on November 20, 1964 in Hazard, Kentucky to Bob and Joyce Day. He moved to Texas as a child and attended Kopperl High School. After high school he went to TSTI and obtained his Associates Degree in Architectural Design and Drafting. To further his education he graduated from Le Tourneau University with his BBA. Eugene worked at Lockheed Martin and retired after 30 years of service in the Engineering Department as a Design Engineer Principal. Eugene retired in 2016 and went back to school to advance his knowledge in accounting. He was able to work alongside his wife, Dena, during his retirement years. Eugene and Dena were fortunate enough to purchase 60 acres of the Burns Family Farm, which he later named, DFFR (Day Family Fun Retreat). He was most proud of this special name. While on his land he enjoyed clearing and improving the land all while watching the deer. During his free time Eugene enjoyed playing dominos with friends and family, traveling in the RV, and mudding in his Jeep. Eugene was a dedicated Christian man, teaching Awanas at CBC for over 10 years and having served as a school board member for Cleburne Christian Academy for the past two years advancing Christian education.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Dena Day; daughters, Brooke and Taylor Day; siblings, Anne and Tony Dominguez-Robles, Linda and Garry Cook, Deborah and Richard Terrell, Audrey Fambrough; "adopted children" Mackenzie Richardson and wife, Sarah, Kailah Rockwood and husband, Garrett; brother-in-law, Joey Edwards; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Joyce Day; sisters, Roberta Edwards, Sarah Day; and parents-in-law, Charles and Sue Burns.
