Eugene Engelhardt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davis Greenlawn Funeral Chapels and Cemeteries on Nov. 5, 2025.
Eugene Karl Engelhardt was born to Herman Walter Engelhardt and Minnie Louise (Schrader) Engelhardt in Needville, Texas on May 22, 1939. He was the twelfth child of thirteen for Herman and Minnie's family. He grew up on the family farm, attended Needville I.S.D. and graduated from Needville High School.
After high school graduation, he served his country in the U.S. Army from November 1959 through October 1965. He met Sarah Christine Gibbs in Wallis, Texas. Christine and her family resided in East Bernard; they were married at First Baptist Church in East Bernard on November 5, 1960.
Having accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, Eugene went with the Lord for eternity on November 3, 2025 at the age of eighty-six.
Eugene was a machinist and owned his own firm. He and Christine lived the first part of their married life in Rosenberg, Texas. In 1977, they moved to Stewart County, Tennessee, between the two towns of Big Rock and Bumpus Mills. Both Eugene and Christine felt this was too far from their families, so they moved back to Texas in less than one year. They settled in Sugar Land, Texas.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Christine. They were married for 64 years, 11 months (363 days). He has two sons: Eugene Karl Engelhardt, Jr. of Grapevine, Texas and Kevin Mitchell Engelhardt and his wife Sharon in Rosenberg, Texas; one grandson- Jacen Hunter Engelhardt and wife Emma of Sugar Land; one granddaughter- Katherine Leigh (Engelhardt) Sullivan and husband Hayden Sullivan of North Richland Hills, Texas; two step-grandsons: Joshua Andrew Rosas and his wife Kristen and Jacob Preston Rosas and his wife Kali; and two of his sisters: Sedonia Jochec and Jeanette Nohawitz; along with extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Minnie Engelhardt, six brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2025 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church in East Bernard followed by burial at the Methodist Cemetery in East Bernard.
Tributes and words of condolence may be left for the family at www.davisgreenlawnfh.com.

Chris so terribly sorry for your loss. Eugene was a great friend and I enjoyed working for you both in Sugarland and in East Bernard. I worked on both houses doing electrical work. Eugene always had a big smile and was always a pleasure to be around. From John and Lynda McDonald
