Eugene E. Gilet

Eugene E. Gilet, age 86, a well-respected business leader and realtor, and longtime resident of Chelmsford, MA passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on November 7, 1938 in Lowell, MA to the late Edgar A. Gilet and Catherine (Crane) Gilet. Eugene was the beloved husband of Marguerite (Larkin) Gilet with whom he celebrated 64 years of marriage.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his three sons Bernard Gilet, James Gilet and his companion Hope Jordan, Stephen Gilet and his wife Marie. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Paige, Mitchell, Jackleen, Stephanie, John, Allison, and Brenn, and had one great grandson Myles. He is also survived by his brother William J. Gilet and wife Sheila; sisters-in-law Bernardine (Liston) Fountain, Elizabeth J. Enis, and Bernadette Gilet; and former daughter-in-law Maureen Meehan.
He is predeceased by his brother Richard J. Gilet; sister-in-law Maryann (Larkin) McCarthy; and brother-in-law Donald Enis.
Eugene was a 1956 graduate of Chelmsford High School and proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force and was activated into the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was the former President of Gilet Wool Scouring, Inc., a member of the Boston Wool Trade Association and the current President of Gilet Bros., Inc. at The Mill in North Chelmsford. He was a founding charter member with over 50 years of service with the Chelmsford Rotary Club, served 32 years as a member of the Chelmsford Planning Board and spent 17 years on the Northern Middlesex Council of Governments. He was one of the founding members and former treasurer and general manager of the Chelmsford Little League. He remained an active member of both the Chelmsford Business Association and the Chelmsford Police Foundation.
Gene was an avid boater and enjoyed spending summers with Margie and their sons at their home on Lake Winnipesaukee, NH with family and friends for over 50 years.
It being his wish, visiting hours have been omitted. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 11am at Saint Mary Parish, 25 North Road, CHELMSFORD. KINDLY MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, CHELMSFORD.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tunnels for Towers Foundation or Lowell General Hospital Cancer Center.
