Eugene Brower Hackett, age 87, passed away on April 5, 2025, at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living.
Eugene was born on September 23, 1937, to Alfred Kellie Hackett and Nellie Brower. A lifelong farmer, Eugene poured his heart into the land, raising dairy cows for many years and tending to hogs, pigs, and beef cattle. He was known as a jack of all trades, always willing to lend a hand or figure out a fix. He especially loved spending time at the Red Cross service station, where he and his friends would gather to “solve the world’s problems.”
Eugene married the love of his life, Judith, in March of 1959, and they shared 66 years of marriage together. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved his family dearly. He never missed his children’s sports games and enjoyed being active himself, playing on the men’s softball team for BB Walker Shoe Company. Eugene also had a soft spot for animals, especially his dogs, who were always close by.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Susan Marlene Hackett, his brother Alfred Kellie Hackett Jr., and his sister Nancy Margaret Bryant.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Judith Hackett; his sons, Steve Hackett (Sandra) of Randleman and Mitchell Hackett; his daughter, Katherine Allred (Jarred) of Randleman; his grandchildren, Christian Hackett, Cameron Hackett (Madi), and Ross Allred; and one great-grandson, Eli Hackett.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Randolph Hospice House in Eugene’s memory.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 1:00 pm - 1:50 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main St. Randleman. Funeral Services will follow in the Eddie Pugh Memorial Chapel at 2:00 pm with Pastor Charles Williams officiating. Interment will be held at Bethany Community Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends and family at his son Steve's house after the burial, 5905 Fred Lineberry Rd, Randleman.
