Eugene Henry Hinkelman

Eugene Henry Hinkelman, 89 yrs of Petersburg, MI, died Sunday November 2, 2025, in his home under the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, MI, Monday November 10, 2025, from 4-8PM. He will lie in state on Tuesday November 11, 2025, from 10AM until the services at 11AM at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Petersburg, MI, Pastor Janice Locke of St. John Lutheran Church, Dundee, MI, will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.

Born March 13, 1936, in Petersburg, MI. Eugene was the son of Arthur and Clara (Helmke) Hinkelman. He was a 1954 Ida High School Graduate. He married Phyllis Fink on October 5, 1963, in Riga, MI. Eugene worked as a lifelong farmer and union carpenter for 52 yrs, retiring in 1998. He was a member or Southeast Antique Tractor Club and Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Petersburg, MI where he was formerly a Church Elder and played Dart ball. Eugene loved fishing, farming, hunting and most importantly spending time with grandkids and great grandkids.

Survivors include: His wife, Phyllis; children: Scott, Dawn (Ben) Martinez, Amy Fisher; grandchildren, Taylor, Derek, Alex (Sydnie), Payton (Jacob), Olivia, Sierra (Bryan), Kennedie and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alvin Hinkelman.
