Eugene “Gene” Louis Horstmeier, of Laddonia, MO, passed away Monday, October 27, 2025, at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Judith Ann "Judy" Roberta Horstmeier; cherished son of the late Olga and Martin Horstmeier; devoted father of Robert Horstmeier and Michael (Stephanie) Horstmeier; loving grandfather of Michael Horstmeier, Noah Horstmeier, Wyatt Horstmeier, and Gabriel Horstmeier; dear brother of Charles (Joyce) Horstmeier, Harold (the late Cheryl) Horstmeier, Mary Ann (the late Vernon) Echelmeier, Carolyn Horstmeier, and brother-in-law of Virginia (Elmer) Ostmann; treasured Godfather of Steve Echelmeier and Bryce Henke; beloved uncle and friend to many.

Gene proudly and honorably served in the United States Air Force and later became the proud owner of Gene Horstmeier Construction. He was a dedicated member of the Carpenter’s Union Local #1987 and Green’s Bottom Gun Club in Harvester, MO. Gene enjoyed trap shooting and hunting deer, turkey, and quail. In his retirement, he cherished spending time on his farm in Audrain County and looked forward to many visits from his grandsons who live next door. Gene was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made in Gene's name to Friedens Cemetery Fund – St. Charles, MO or International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
