Eugene Kime Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stith Funeral Home - Jamesport on Aug. 19, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Eugene Kime, age 78, of Jamesport, Missouri, joined his Savior on Monday morning, August 18, 2025, from NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City, Missouri. Eugene was born on July 28, 1947, to Doyle and Naomi (Troxel) Kime in the same house his father was born in on the farm that stayed in the family for 119 years located just south of Jamesport, Missouri. He graduated from Jamesport High School in 1965 earning the Missouri FFA State Star Farmer as well as Missouri and American Farmer degrees under the instruction of FFA Advisor Frank Nowland. Eugene attended Trenton Junior College for one year and in his words "learned everything", then returned to the family farm where he spent the vast majority of his life.

Eugene had a lifelong commitment and love for the land and his community. He and Doyle were among the first individuals to put together a fire truck and organize the Jamesport Rural Fire Department just over 50 years ago. Before moving to Morningside Center Assisted Living and Nursing home, a place he really liked, Eugene had a standing order with the Jamesport FFA advisors that if any of the kids in FFA needed anything, just let him know. Eugene and Doyle were both lifelong supporters of the Jamesport Junior Livestock Show where they, along with many others, would spend many sweltering hot days during the fair making sure kids had the opportunity to show their livestock. Both Eugene and Doyle were Superintendents for the Masonic Cemetery for many years ensuring it's care. Eugene served on many local boards including MU Extension and Daviess County Ambulance board.

In 2009 Eugene received a liver transplant at KU Medical center which gave many friends and family 16 more years to share with him, often coming to him learning from his farming experiences and seeking his advice. Eugene stated he had 3 loves in his life; Jesus, family (of which many were not attached to his family tree, but family nonetheless), and farming.

Upon his passing Eugene considered himself "still single" but was dearly loved and considered a Sweetheart by just about every nurse who helped take care of him over the many years.

He was a member of the Jamesport Baptist Church and a proud member and leader of the local Masonic Lodge. Eugene will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a host of friends and extended family who will remember him fondly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Jamesport FFA Alumni, Jamesport Jr. Livestock Show, or Jamesport Fire & Rescue in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Eugene's life will be held at 2 PM Sunday, August 24th, 2025, at the Jamesport Baptist Church, Jamesport, MO. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Jamesport, MO. Arrangements entrusted to the care and direction of Stith Funeral Home in Jamesport (660) 684-6133. Online guestbook at www.stithfamilyfunerals.com
