Eugene F. "Gene" Kopp, 66, of
Methuen, MA, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Methuen, he was the son of the late George and Emma (Hackett) Kopp.
Gene was a man whose presence could fill a room, warm, funny, loyal, and endlessly devoted to the people he loved. He leaves his siblings, Mary McCluskey, Cathy Kopp Morrison, Beverly Ward, and William Kopp and his wife Sandy, all of whom will forever cherish his humor, his generosity, and his steady, comforting nature.
He was the devoted partner of Barbara Guertin, with whom he shared countless memories, quiet moments, and a life built on companionship and care. Gene will also be deeply missed by his close friends Johnny B., Scott Adie, and Billy Gould, who were like brothers to him, as well as by several nieces, nephews, and cousins who adored him.
Gene found happiness in the simple, meaningful pleasures of life. He loved boating on the Merrimack River in his 17-foot boat, where he felt most at peace, sun on his face, water beneath him, and friends by his side. Time spent with those he cared about was always time well spent, and Gene had a gift for making every gathering feel easy, welcoming, and full of laughter.
A proud and passionate New England Patriots fan, Gene rarely missed a game. Some of his favorite memories were made cheering from the stands with his friend Scott Adie, sharing the thrill of every touchdown and the heartbreak of every loss.
Gene also had a soft spot for his beloved Pomeranians, Harvey and Troy, who brought him endless joy and companionship. His great sense of humor, his loyalty, and his deep love for family defined him, and those qualities will continue to echo in the lives of everyone who knew him.
Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, February 26, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street,
Methuen, MA. Burial will be private.
