Eugene J. Korczynski

Eugene John Korczynski, affectionately known as "Pal" and "Gene" to friends and family, passed away unexpectedly at home in the early hours of February 22, 2024, at the age of 75.
The cornerstone of Gene's life was his family. He was the beloved husband of 50 years to Linda (Coates) Korczynski, whom he met on a serendipitous blind date that blossomed into a lifelong partnership. He adored his daughters and their husbands, Amy (Korczynski) Ellrod and her husband Ryan of Mt. Holly, NC, and Lori (Korczynski) Lynn and her husband Travis of Providence, RI. Gene's humor and caring nature touched the lives of many.
Born in Wildflecken, Germany, on December 27, 1948, he was the only child of the late Zbigniew and Alina (Brzywczy) Korczynski. From the age of six months, Gene was raised in Worcester, MA. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Worcester. Following his education, Gene answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he honorably served. Gene's professional life was marked by a 28-year tenure at Astra Pharmaceutical, where he was a supervisor of packaging. His leadership and work ethic were hallmarks of his career, earning him the respect and friendship of his colleagues.
A man of many interests, Gene loved music, particularly rock and roll, spending time with his family in Cape Cod, fishing, and indulging in his very funny sense of humor. He was known for his love of comedy and his own brand of satirical humor, often lightening the mood and bringing laughter to any gathering. He loved animals, especially his late cat, Steve, and his many grand-dogs. Gene's legacy is one of love, laughter, and learning. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and a trusted friend. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.
As we bid farewell to Eugene John Korczynski, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories told, the music played, and the laughter shared. Gene's journey through life was a testament to the joy that can be found in the simple pleasures and the enduring bonds of family and friendship. He will be deeply missed, yet forever remembered with smiles and fondness by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 28, from 5-7pm at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, February 29, at St. Bernadette Parish, 266 Main Street, Northborough. Burial will follow in Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough.
