Eugene "Gene" Kosch, a cherished father, veteran, and community member, passed away peacefully of natural causes on July 19, 2025, at the Veteran's Home in Manteno, Illinois. Born on October 20, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, Gene's life was marked by dedication, service, and the love he had for his family and country.
Gene's journey began in the bustling city of Chicago, where he was born to a close-knit family. Growing up, he shared an inseparable bond with his siblings: the late Annamae (Matt) Duzakowitcs, late Alfred (Norb) Laura Kosch, late Patricia (Lawrence) Cook, and late Alvin (Sandra) Kosch. His early years were filled with the warmth of family gatherings and the spirited energy of the Windy City.
He is survived by many Nieces and Nephews. After completing his education, Gene answered the call to serve his nation and spent over nine years in the U.S. Navy. His time in the military was highlighted by his service during the Vietnam War, where he displayed immense courage and commitment. Gene's military career was followed by a distinguished tenure with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. His dedication to his work and country did not go unnoticed, as he received numerous commendations for his exemplary service and leadership. Gene also served as a Civil Servant for the U.S. Marines, where his work ethic and devotion to duty left a lasting impact on all who worked alongside him.
Beyond his professional life, Gene was a devoted husband to his late wives, Dolores and Colleen, and a loving father to his late son, Eugene Jr. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he often expressed his love and pride for them through his actions and unwavering support. Gene's interests extended beyond his service to his country. He had a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Dolly, who was a constant companion and source of joy in his life. His bond with Dolly was a testament to his kind and caring nature, a trait that was evident to all who knew him.

His legacy is one of love, service, and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of his family, friends, and fellow servicemen and women.
