Eugene was born on September 12, 1951 the son of Dewitt and Gladys Lewers. He lived in Rockford since the early 1970's coming from Senatobia, MS.
Eugene leaves to cherish many loving memories, four brothers Tommy Lee (Mary) Street, Robert (Imo Jean) Lewis, Elijah Lewers, Melvin (Cathy) Lewis; four sisters, Minnie Giddeon, Lillie Posley, Susie Lewis, & Maxine (Tony) Cobb; bonus son Tyrone Naylor; two special nieces; Samantha Porter & Christine Russey; a host of nieces and
nephews, great nieces and great nephews that he loved.
His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will always remember his rebellious, but loving and protective personality.
He was predeceased by his parents, Dewitt and Gladys Lewers; son Eugene Lewers Jr; three sisters Marie Mathews, Mary Green, and Virginia Lewers; and brother, Cicero Lewers.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Visitation 12:00 noon until the time of service.
